10 Jul 08 / 4th of july recap

had an extended stay at the lake for the fourth of july. festivities included dogs and burgers, family and friends, a pontoon boat that almost sank and lots of booze! had a great time but as always was happy to be home. jake started his soccer class this week and that was pretty hilarious, he does really well just has a super short attention span which is probably common for a 3 year old. travis brother is home from iraq (YAY) and we're going to see he and his wife this weekend; so happy he's home safe.

getting caught up with work, i was out 2 days and came into 200 emails which is pretty common and pretty crazy! what did we ever do without email? a lot of jobs are wrapping up this week. we have some brochures headed out to the printer, some sweet YLNI business cards that i bet jake will be posting, a Joseph Decuis e-blast focusing on upcoming events, lots and lots of webwork. oh, did i mention webwork? exciting times here at the olg!

haven't played washers in a while, we might need to bust it out tomorrow with a beer. talk to ya'll next week.

26 Jun 08 / my dog..

i'm using this blog to introduce you to my 10 year old boxer, lily. travis and i got her when she was just a pup, she was really like a child to us. it's funny saying that because once you have kids your thoughts change greatly but thinking back i can't forget how we thought of her as our little babe! she's getting older now and having some problems so, here's to lily, the best boxer ever. she's been a loyal companion, an absolute sweetheart and lover, a great watchdog and most importantly our baby girl. love you lily!

20 Jun 08 / my morning..

every day starts with the possibility of greatness, that's how my morning started. i was tired but felt good, jake woke up and it was the usual routine, all was well. all it took was sunscreen on the face to set my child off, he decided not to listen then cried all the sunscreen i'd applied right off his face and onto his trusty blanket. the car ride consisted of explaining to him why sunscreen is so important and that a sunburn can hurt.... then my explanation that once he got dropped off at preschool he needed to stay in his classroom and not chase after me as i left. then a soft reminder that his mimi was picking him up and plans to take him to chuck-e-cheese so he really better not chase after me or else no house of mouse. threats, i feel horrible doing that as a mom but many times it seems to be the only thing that makes a child listen. so he was good at the dropoff, gave me a hug and i was off but man was i feeling terrible in the car. now i'm at work and the beauty of the blog is that rather than talk matt's ear off for 10 minutes i can blog it instead! i was hoping to get it out of my system to help start my day on a better note, and i'm feeling a bit better already.

16 May 08 / i'm no slacker...

just so you all know i did indeed enter a post earlier this week, however we experienced some technical difficulties and it was lost. so i'm not as big of a slacker as it may seem. my earlier blog was going to be about last weekend, playing in the sun on saturday, spending mother's day with the family.. we had a blast. today i'm switching gears and instead would like to share a tidbit with you all. thanks to my husband i've learned a factoid that many people probably have never taken the time to think about .. but it's interesting so i'll share. on a recent trip to the zoo we witnessed a peacock showing off it's beautiful plumage for some of the lady peacocks.. i knew of course that was a male peacock because the male species is known to be more colorful and more of a show-off i'm sure. one thing i never realized was the the male is called the peacock and the female is called a peahen, both of the peafowel species of bird. huh, who knew (atleast i did not) and you may not care but more than anything i thought i could share a factoid that can be shared over your next cup of coffee. i'm going to see if i can figure out how to attach an image for you to enjoy.. have a fabulous weekend!

01 May 08 / my thoughts for the day

Wow, I guess it took me a while to get inspired huh! I cannot believe how the time flies, it's crazy that spring is upon us and it is now May, wow! How long has it been since I've updated my blog... I don't want to know.

Business has been booming and we're busy bees here at OLG. We just completed a job with YLNI introducing a new identity. Kudos to all on that one, the result is wonderful and the client is really please. You might find the new logo on Jake's blog but I'll track it down and attach it on mine as well.

Last weekend we made it out to the zoo, I highly recommend it. Whether you have kids or not it's definitely fun for all.. be sure to look up in the rainforest exhibit, you just might get an eyeful of some fruit bats hanging over your head.. or atleast we did! I also highly recommend spending some time in the farm, that's always fun.

Speaking of the farm, Joseph Decuis Heritage Farms has a lot of exciting stories to tell from their organically grown produce to their American Wagyu. This account has really been a lot of fun for me and I'm learning a lot. Pete just travelled to Japan and had some wonderful stories to tell (you can learn more at josephdecuis.com!)

Well, I think that's it for now.. I really need to be better about this!! I'll work on it, thanks all.
